3 Poems by Hannah Nussbaum
Personal injury lawyer
in nouveau leather recliner
accidentally bum dialing
uncle during dinner
dovetails temporarily
with description of a plumber
(friend of uncles) whose proprietary elevator
solutions firm or might be their client
referred to him is still waiting
on two separate cowbell orders
custom branded for upcoming charity
marathons in the tri-state area
why or who a person calls
is secondary stuffs
to the epic game of phone tag
ensuing, it’s voicemails
all the way down
& like the dying art
of business itself as though what
is being sold is even remotely
what is being sold?
in this poem it’s laser pointers
yoyos & noise makers
wholesale gildan apparel & blank
business cards & blank business pads
& squeezie stress relief
balls shaped like semi-trucks
all poetry aside
hit the link
in the title to shop
Ars Poetica 1
once upon time
im sitting at the Carvel
dripped out in my usual
plotting my next move
when a radiant lightbulb
appears over my skullcap
check it out
a poem-length advertisement
extolling the virtues
of a product or service
or even
why not
performing a plug
just listen
for another poem. there are truly
so many
hardworking poems
for sale and even for free
these days. the way it would work
is you’d rent out space
in your poem
or whoever would
to other young
ambitious poets
wanting to generate buzz
and anticipation. maybe not even the whole poem
would be necessary
or what about this
a verse or stanza
in service of embedding a secret dead-drop location
via GPS coordinates
these to be woven deftly
and naturally into the working language of the piece such as latitude: 50.8144°
longitude: -67.75541°
String Theory
Another drive down I-95
through springsteen’s jersey
badlands, past 5G cell tower “trees”
so bad they are good
then bad, then good again
